Soldering microcontrollers directly to a PCB can be risky and time consuming. Use a socket for easy replacement of integrated circuits. IC sockets are ideal for preventing damage to IC's from soldering. This is a solder tail DIP IC socket. This socket will seat any 16-pin narrow dip IC. It features a standard 0.100' pin spacing and a pin width of 0.300'.
Your socket may vary slightly from the one in the picture, but it will still be a DIP IC socket.
